Remote jobs aren’t going away. While there aren’t as many available now as there were during the pandemic, there are still a considerable number of companies advertising fully remote jobs, while others are making the leap to a new type of remote work: the hybrid model.
If you’re looking for a fully remote job that pays very well, check out this short list below. Some of these positions are quite unique and interesting in nature and are well suited to specific personalities or interests.
So, as with any role, but especially these, you need to think critically about what transferable skills and experience you have to offer, which you can showcase on your CV as an indication that you are the perfect fit for the job.
1. Fully Remote Machine Learning (ML) Founding Engineer
What could be more exciting than being one of the founding engineers of an exciting mission-driven startup, while earning $150,000-$200,000 plus equity options?
Meet Meaningful Gigs. Their mission? To be a change agent in the freelance creative industry, by offering opportunities to African freelance creative workers and connecting them with important organisations as clients. On their careers page, they say their goal is to “promote human creativity by eliminating mundane tasks that stifle innovation.”
Remote work is ingrained in Meaningful Gigs’ company culture, it seems, as through analysis of their current open positions, all of the listed openings (Senior Front-End and Back-End Engineers and Senior UX/UI Designer) are also advertised as fully remote.
It is essential to keep in mind, however, that working in a start-up company requires a different set of skills, work ethic and attitudes compared to a regular job in a well-established organization.
The company would like to indicate this here, at least for its Founding ML Engineer role, They are looking for someone with a lot of ambition and drive; someone who ideally has experience working at a venture capital firm or a successful early-stage company, and who can keep things moving at a fast pace. They want someone with “a manic sense of urgency,” since speed and time are of the essence in bringing a product to market, as any professional with prior startup experience would know. This employer also clearly specifies that they want a candidate to fill this role who is not only driven but proactive, “who raises their hand when they have questions.”
Today’s remote-first companies want employees who think for themselves and have… (+) confidence to express their ideas and contribute to the conversation.

Think of creative ways to show that you have the entrepreneurial and driven mindset that this company is looking for. This can be work-related, or sometimes you can draw on experiences that aren’t directly related to your job, such as volunteering.
You might think about times when you have expressed a different opinion or challenged the status quo in meetings and how your contribution refocused the conversation and led to an alternative, positive outcome for all stakeholders involved. Be sure to quantify what that specific outcome was.
2. Fully remote dementia care navigator
Another exciting fully remote job that is hiring right now (at the time of writing this article) is that of a Dementia Care Navigator in CareYaya. It is a virtually unheard of and completely new feature, and we will start to see how essential it is in the near future.
This unique role is inspiring and rewarding because it operates within a healthcare technology startup, which was launched by a former hedge fund manager who, after a two-year hiatus to become a family caregiver for a cancer patient, decided to start a company focused on technology for senior and dementia care.
This position is available through the Medicare GUIDE program for dementia care, says Neal Shah, founder and CEO of CareYaya.
Commenting on these new remote job opportunities, Shah says, “Dementia care advisors play a critical role in providing individualized support to dementia patients and their families. These advisors help overcome barriers in the healthcare system and facilitate timely access to quality healthcare and psychosocial care throughout all phases of the dementia care continuum. This emerging role in the healthcare industry is becoming increasingly important as the number of people living with Alzheimer’s disease and related dementias continues to rise.”
Among other things, the role of the dementia care navigator involves providing guidance about the health care system, making referrals, and providing emotional support.
The position is advertised to carry a salary of between $80,000 and $100,000 per year.
To be successful in this role, it can be very beneficial to have personal or life experience as a caregiver for a family member or others with dementia, or to have experience in social work, community services, medical care, and even counseling. To provide this personalized assistance to dementia patients, you need strong empathy, listening and communication skills, and customer service skills.
3. Fully Remote Senior Software Engineer – Staff Manager
Finally, Payara, a UK-based global infrastructure software company, is hiring for a remote position that can be based anywhere in the world, as a Senior Software Engineer/People Manager. The company is primarily remote and currently has employees in 13 countriesaccording to their website.
What makes this company unique is their unique approach to onboarding as well as their inclusion of remote work, with plenty of opportunities to hang out with your coworkers in Teams chats, retreats, and monthly meetups to replace the lack of office banter and socializing.
Furthermore, Payara currently has a 4.7-star rating on Glassdoor from employees, which is quite an impressive feat and a good indicator to look out for, and this clearly demonstrates the people-centric culture of the organization.
If you’re looking for a mission-driven position that improves people’s quality of life, look beyond the “normal” job titles.
