He Office of Good Business Practices warns job seekers about potential identity fraud scams perpetrated nationwide by an Idaho-based fraudulent forwarding company called Intelligent Post.
The company, which was deregistered in 2023 but continues to operate online, connects job seekers through career websites like Indeed with listings for high-paying remote jobs, the BBB said.
People are then asked to provide personal information, including photographs of government-issued identification documents, which are used to create false tax returns or open fraudulent credit accounts, the BBB said.
Intelligent Post also operates as Intel Post, Intelpost , Intell Post Shipping Company and Intelligent Logistics.
BBB has also received reports that Intelligent Post is taking money from individuals. The company has received 47 scam tracking reports and eight complaints in the past 12 months. Two of those complaints were filed by Oregon residents, both under the age of 35.
“We urge anyone who has been negatively impacted by Intelligent Post or similar scams to report their experience,” said Dené Joubert, BBB Great West and Pacific investigations manager, in a news release.
The BBB recommends that job seekers verify job postings through company websites. It also advises against providing sensitive personal information to unknown entities.
