Vice President Kamala Harris is seeking a new employee to strategize her social media platforms, according to a recent job posting on the Biden-Harris campaign’s Daybook.
The position, which is based in Wilmington, Delaware, involves helping to “further develop and expand” the vice president’s campaign voice online. Tuesday’s announcement comes less than a week after President Joe Biden delivered a shaky performance in the race’s first presidential debate against Donald Trump. Though it was posted on Daybook on July 2, the position had been posted on LinkedIn two months ago, well before the debate.
Biden’s performance, which has raised concerns about the president’s mental acuity and fitness for another term, has led some Democrats to question whether he should be replaced on the ticket before November. The Biden-Harris campaign has repeatedly said the president will not withdraw.

Despite these assurances, some have suggested that Harris, who is again being considered as Biden’s running mate, could join other senior Democrats as a candidate to replace Biden as the Democratic nominee. Other names that have surfaced include California Gov. Gavin Newsom, former first lady Michelle Obama and former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton.
The posting on Daybook, a job search site for political and nonprofit positions, says: “The Vice President’s Social Media Platform Strategist will report to the Vice President’s Digital Director and will be expected to write within an established organizational identity for multiple social media platforms and channels, while strategizing on how to further develop and expand the Vice President’s and the Biden-Harris campaign’s voice online.”
The role’s responsibilities include writing daily content for Campaign X’s (formerly Twitter), Threads, Facebook and Instagram accounts. Candidates should be able to “assist the VP’s digital director in reporting on audience growth, content performance and engagement that can be tailored to meet the needs of stakeholders across the DNC and manage daily output reporting,” the job description said.
Salaries range from $65,000 to $85,000 a year. Other requirements include having “an eagle eye for typos” and “good writing skills.”
Newsweek has reached out to the Biden-Harris campaign via email for comment.
A preliminary Data for Progress poll conducted last Friday found Harris to be the most popular choice to replace Biden. The survey polled 1,011 likely American voters, including 387 likely Democratic voters, and has a margin of error of 3 percentage points.
However, polling averages suggest Harris is at an even bigger disadvantage than the president if she were to face Trump.
The vice president is not among those questioning whether Biden should remain in the race. She has repeatedly expressed support for Biden remaining in the race.
