Davante Adams insists he’s happy with the Las Vegas Raiders heading into the 2024 season, but the star wide receiver made an admission this week about all the hype that’s surrounded him.
Adams’ agents issued a statement Wednesday saying that basically any rumors about Adams wanting to leave Las Vegas are nonsense. Adams himself also addressed the rumors during an interview. Appearance on Shannon Sharpe’s “Club Shay Shay” podcast which was published earlier that day.
Adams told Sharpe that he is “firmly committed to the Raiders” and feels “really good” about the team’s current direction. The 31-year-old also acknowledged the obvious, which is that whether or not he remains in Las Vegas is not entirely up to him.
“If that ever changes, if it gets to a point where they don’t feel the same way, I’m not going to finish playing, so obviously we’ll figure out whatever we need to,” Adams said. as transcribed by Eric Edholm of NFL.com.
Adams then admitted that there is one quarterback he would like to play with if he ever left the Raiders. You can probably guess which one it is.
“Well, I’ll answer it this way: If I had to meet with anybody, it would be Aaron (Rodgers),” Adams said.
While he seems open to playing with Rodgers again, Adams said it’s not an opportunity he’s looking for. Those who heard Rodgers’ recent comment about his former teammate might have thought something was in the works.
In May, Adams seemed to have some regrets about forcing his way to the Raiders. Adams then made some comments on the Netflix show “Receiver” that made it clear that he doesn’t like having a bad quarterback.
All of that has fueled speculation that Adams could eventually seek a trade, but it doesn’t appear he’ll be going anywhere anytime soon.
