Free summer training classes are now available to enroll in through the University of Hawaiʻi Community Colleges’ Good Jobs Hawaiʻi initiative.
These training programs offer individuals the opportunity to improve their skills and earn industry certifications, opening doors to employment opportunities, paid internships, and apprenticeship pathways.
Registration is now open for a variety of online and in-person classes with varying lengths. buentrabajoshawaii.org.

Trainings to be offered beginning in May 2024 include:
- Jobs in the creative industry: Introduction to esports racing and digital art fundamentals
- Technology Jobs: Help Desk Technician Readiness, CompTIA A+, AI in the Workplace, and AWS Cloud Certifications
- Clean Energy and Skilled Trades Jobs: Pre-apprenticeship for carpentry, renewable energy and commercial driver’s license
- Jobs in the healthcare sector: Certified Personal Trainer, Certified Nursing Assistant, and Medical Assistant.
- Jobs in the City and County of Honolulu: Police Academy Preparation, Court Interpreter Training Certification, Microsoft Office, and Plant Propagation for Nursery Workers
Since Good Jobs Hawai’i launched in 2023, more than 4,000 residents across the state have enrolled in the free training offered through the program.
“The Good Jobs Hawai’i initiative is focused on ensuring that our state’s economic future is supported by a skilled, local workforce prepared to meet the demands of our high-growth industries,” said Erika Lacro, vice president of UH Community Colleges. “These free training classes offered to Hawai’i residents provide an invaluable opportunity to improve their skills and pave the way to a successful future filled with promising career prospects.”

More than $3 million in tuition funding is available from a variety of sources. Qualified applicants receive assistance with course tuition and other training costs, such as industry certification exam fees. The Good Jobs Hawai’i program is free for most eligible participants, with many trainings providing a 100% subsidy to cover all costs.
In addition to free tuition, each participant also has the support of a Good Jobs Hawai’i advisor, who offers personalized support to ensure student success. Their services include college and career counseling, referral to community partners for support services, facilitating employer connections, and providing various forms of financial assistance.
