Do your students need help finding a job or internship? Send them to us!
Step 1: Ask them to begin developing their My Aspire Plan (MJOBsNews) Working in the Ensuring the achievement of experiencesThis guides students through the steps of not only finding opportunities, but doing so strategically to actually take advantage of that future opportunity!
Step 2 – Get them to create an updated profile on Handshake (Carthage’s website where job and internship openings are posted) so that employers can find them. Handshake is different from other job sites in that the postings are geared toward the skill levels of college students and recent graduates. Employers and postings have also been vetted to ensure their credibility.
Step 3 – Encourage them to stop by The Aspire Center On the fourth floor of Lentz Hall, each student connects with a career specialist and we can help them get started from scratch.
Please contact the Aspire Center at aspire@carthage.edu if you have any questions.
Funding experiential learning
Carthage offers financial support to students with low- or unpaid internships. The Aspire Center strongly encourages and supports students seeking experiential learning opportunities to expand their skills, gain experience, and expand their network. We also recognize that sometimes those experiences come at a cost. If your student is participating in an experiential learning opportunity this semester, such as an internship or research project, but is hesitant due to financial constraints, we may be able to help.
To apply for funding for experiential learning, students must fill out an application formPriority will be given to unpaid internships that have associated costs. All students and cohorts from each year are encouraged to apply. If you have any questions, please contact The Aspire Center at aspire@carthage.edu.
