New Mexico Highlands University is among the 100 most affordable universities in the country

NMHU is the only New Mexico higher education institution ranked in the top 100 for both online and overall affordability by College Consensus.

Las Vegas, New Mexico–New Mexico Highlands University has been ranked #28 nationally among the 100 Most Affordable Online Colleges for 2024 by College Consensus. NMHU is the only public college or university in New Mexico to be ranked for online affordability.

NMHU is also ranked #86 by College Consensus among the 100 Most Affordable Colleges and Universities in the country. This ranking makes NMHU the only higher education institution in the state to appear on both the 100 Most Affordable Online Colleges and 100 Most Affordable Colleges and Universities list for 2024.

NMHU is home to several prestigious academic programs, including the Center for Excellence in Social Work, the Institute for Native American Social Work Studies, the Institute for Culturally and Linguistically Responsive Learning and Teaching, and New Mexico’s only accredited Forestry program that plays a major role in the state’s reforestation efforts. Recently, two of NMHU’s top scientists received national media attention for discovering a new species of anaconda.

To be considered for College Consensus online rankings, colleges must be accredited and recognized by the National Center for Education Statistics and offer at least three bachelor’s degree programs that can be completed entirely or primarily online.
