Minimum requirements:
Course Description: MPHM 0910 Pharmacology and Therapeutics 7 credits. This course focuses on how chemical agents (drugs) regulate or modify physiological functions of the body, demonstrating how drug interactions with living organisms contribute to the diagnosis, prevention, treatment, and cure of disease. Biological responses, physiological alterations, and correction of disorders or diseases are discussed for each class of drug, emphasizing the interaction with receptors that defines the limits of agent efficacy. Because pharmacology and therapeutics are an integrated science, a major effort is made to maintain this integrated approach in lectures, tutorials, and case studies. Special emphasis will be placed on the principles of pharmacogenetics (pharacodynamics, pharmacokinetics, adverse drug reactions, feratogenicity, etc.), as well as the therapeutics of common drugs used in infectious diseases, malignancies, and endocrine disorders.
Salary and benefits:The position is full-time and the salary is commensurate with teaching experience and qualifications. The faculty member is provided with an excellent health care plan that covers medical care in both the U.S. and St. Kitts.
