Natalie, the vice chairwoman of the board of directors of the Indonesian Solidarity Party (PSI), said on Wednesday that President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo had appointed her to a new position in his administration.
“It’s just a meeting with the president. There is a task for me. Yes, for me,” Grace told reporters shortly after her private meeting with Jokowi at the State Palace in central Jakarta.
The former TV news anchor declined to give further details, only confirming that she had been appointed to a position in Jokowi’s administration.
“Yes, he will be in the Government,” he said.
A staunch supporter of Jokowi and close ally of the SEP chairman, Kaesang Pangarep, the president’s youngest son, ran in the February legislative elections but failed to win a seat in the House of Representatives, despite winning the highest number of votes to represent Jakarta in the national legislature.
The final count showed that the PSI failed to reach the minimum 4 percent threshold needed to win a seat in the House.

Grace was elected chairwoman of the youth-oriented party in 2015 at the age of 32. She stepped down from the post in 2021 and was replaced by acting chairperson Giring Ganesha until Kaesang was elected chairperson on September 25, 2023, just two days after joining as a member.
