Fourth graders in Ohio have been able to visit some history museums across the state for free over the past year.
Your history museum pass now has another perk: free admission to the Ohio State Fair.
America 250-Ohiowhich is organizing the Buckeye State’s celebrations for the country’s 250th anniversary in 2026, is running a special promotion for free admission to the fair.
This special pass is only available to fourth-graders in the 2023-24 school year who visit the Ohio History Center between July 24 and Aug. 4, when the fair is held. Tickets must be purchased at the Ohio State Fair entrance outside the Ohio History Center, according to a news release.
Students must also be accompanied by a paying adult.

“During the summer, it’s so important to keep kids’ minds engaged,” Todd Kleismit, America 250-Ohio’s executive director, said in a news release. “With the 4th Grade History Pass, Ohio families have opportunities for fun and educational experiences. Not only can they visit places like the wonderful Ohio History Center, but they can also spend more quality time together at the Ohio State Fair.”
According to the fair’s website, admission to the Ohio History Center and Ohio Village is including in the state fair admission price, which is $12 for adults and $10 for children ages six to 12 at the doorWhile the state fairgrounds stay open late into the evening, the historic sites close at 5 p.m. daily.

History Passes for fourth graders for the 2023-24 school year are expiring soon on August 31, 2024, but fourth graders in the upcoming school year will be able to access the pass beginning September 1. This program will be active for fourth graders for the next several years, but is scheduled to end at the end of 2026.
